Welcome to
Harris Garden Center
My fellow gardeners, the cold and wet spring just continued into summer. Why the flowers liked it and the vegetables didn’t, I just don’t know. A big red tomato (i.e. a gold star) to all who picked tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. Out of 24 tomato plants (three varieties), the only ones I was able to pick were the cherry tomatoes.
The gardener in us will now get ready for the next year. Fall is the time to clean your gardens, pull all the plants and don’t compost any with disease. On the bright side, it is to cold for late blight to overwinter. However, early blight and the viruses are another story. If you can move your garden or at least rotate crops that will help. Laying black plastic to bake the soil is another handy trick.
October is a transition month, the fall bulbs are in and what a great time to plant your garden for the first sign of spring. I will have some flower varieties will bloom as early as January. My selection is large with many colors and types. So stop by!
